Deramaxx for dogs is also used to relieve pain after a surgery or a dental procedure; treatment of stiffness and hip dysplasia; and for other purposes. The veterinarian must be informed if the pet dog is pregnant or lactating or it is presently taking steroid like prednisone, prednisolone or methylprednisolone.
The usual single daily dosage of Deramaxx for dogs for the treatment of surgery pain and inflammation must be 1.4-1.8mg/pound; and for osteoarthritis pain and inflammation must be 0.45-0.91mg/pound or as prescribed by the veterinarian. Deramaxx can be given with or without food but must be given to dogs with plenty of water.
Missed dosage must be given at once but if it is almost time for the next scheduled dosage, it must already be skipped as double dosage is a big NO for your pet. If an overdose happens and you noted drowsiness, vomiting, nausea, stomach pain, blurred vision, headache, slow breathing, little urine production and coma, the dog must immediately be seen by the doctor to prevent any further damage to its health.
Deramaxx for dogs must be stored at room temperature, away from heat and moisture. Likewise, it must be kept from other pets and children as accidental taking of the medicine may cause some harmful effects.
Side effects of Deramaxx for dogs
Reactions to Deramaxx for dogs may affect the pets digestive system, liver or kidneys that periodic blood tests to ensure that the dogs health is maintained must be considered. Moreover, the veterinarian should be informed if the dog got hives, swelling or allergic reactions.
Dogs allergy to aspirin or any NSAID; affliction with ulcer or stomach bleeding; having kidney or liver disease and congestive heart failure; showing signs of fluid retention; having blood in vomit, bleeding disorders, high blood pressure or a known heart disease, if well explained to the veterinarian, will help him evaluate the pets condition as well as decide whether to recommend Deramaxx for dogs.
